Escape from Playtime

Structure

Procedural Factory Layout

The Voice alters the factory’s layout between runs, so the building is procedurally generated rather than memorised. Route knowledge transfers as vocabulary — room types, corridor habits, sightline rules — not as a map you can draw from memory.

Procedural Factory Layout

The rule, in order

  1. 01 Learn rooms, not routes. A classroom behaves the same way wherever it spawns.
  2. 02 Count exits on entry. Every room type has a habit; a room with one exit is a decision, not an accident.
  3. 03 Do not trust a memorised shortcut. If the layout shifted, the shortcut is a dead end with your name on it.

Why it matters

A run in Escape from Playtime is a series of small commitments made with incomplete information, and this rule is one of the levers that decides how expensive a wrong commitment is. Treat it as a budget rather than a stat: the team that knows what it is spending is the team that gets to choose when to leave.
