Escape from Playtime

Answers / six questions

The short version

Each answer below is the shortest correct version. Anything longer lives on the page it belongs to, and each answer can be traced back to a source in the research ledger.

Q01
When does Escape from Playtime release?
It launches in Steam Early Access on October 21, 2026, developed and published by Mob Entertainment.
Q02
How many players can play together?
Solo or up to eight players total (you plus 1-7 friends). Online co-op only — no source describes split-screen or local play.
Q03
Which characters can you play?
The eight Smiling Critters from the 1989 Playtime Co. toy line: DogDay, Bubba Bubbaphant, Hoppy Hopscotch, KickinChicken, CraftyCorn, PickyPiggy, Bobby BearHug and CatNap.
Q04
Is the factory the same every run?
No. The layout is procedurally generated and changes with each run, so route knowledge transfers as room habits rather than as a memorised map.
Q05
What is the Tribute quota?
A per-run target the team has to reach by hauling parts back before it can escape. It rises as rounds are cleared. No official numeric value has been published, so treat any number you see quoted as a beta snapshot.
Q06
Is there a local or split-screen mode?
Nothing in the official store copy or categories claims local co-op. The store lists single-player and online co-op, so plan for networked play.

Where the details live

The roster dossiers carry the toy-line quotes. The systems pages carry the movement and quota rules. The facility pages carry the four room types. Nothing on this site is stated without a saved source.
