Escape from Playtime

Team

Playing Solo or With Seven Friends

The store page puts the lobby at solo or 1-7 friends, eight total — one slot per Critter in the roster. That cap shapes the run: with eight players a corridor is a queue, and a queue needs a head and a tail or it becomes a buffet.

The rule, in order

  1. 01 Eight is the cap, and the roster is eight. One toy per slot is a clean way to divide jobs before the first door.
  2. 02 Online co-op only. No source describes split-screen or local play, so plan for networked voice.
  3. 03 In a full lobby, name a head and a tail for every corridor. Everyone in the middle is cargo.

Why it matters

A run in Escape from Playtime is a series of small commitments made with incomplete information, and this rule is one of the levers that decides how expensive a wrong commitment is. Treat it as a budget rather than a stat: the team that knows what it is spending is the team that gets to choose when to leave.
